Conferences
The Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is particularly proud of the quality and diversity of our educational offerings. In addition to our commitment to turn our clinical services into classrooms, we have a long-held commitment to complement clinical work with dedicated learning opportunities daily. Several important recurring conferences help us accomplish this goal.
Pulmonary and Critical Care Morning Report
The cornerstone of our educational program, Pulmonary and Critical Care Morning Report is a daily 30-minute case-based conference drawn from the intensive care unit, the pulmonary consult service, and outpatient clinics. Morning Report, attended by faculty, fellows, residents, and students, ensures that our trainees develop a systematic and formalized approach to complex clinical problem solving.
Critical Care Lecture Series
This month long curriculum is delivered as an hour session five days a week in the Medical Intense Care Unit. This conference reviews an extensive syllabus in the pathophysiology of critical illness. At first taught by the faculty, fellows are expected to take on the challenge of teaching this syllabus to the medicine residents and students later in their training.
Pulmonary Lecture Series
Weekly lectures discuss pathophysiology, diagnostics, and therapeutics in pulmonary and sleep medicine. These lectures provide a core curriculum, but also include a monthly journal club that introduces new evidence and offers an opportunity to critically assess the medical literature.
Fellow Clinical Pathophysiology Conference
Fellows lead a weekly discussion of a challenging and interesting case, taking a deep and critical dive into the medical literature, highlighting the pathophysiology, emerging therapies, and controversies in a particular topic area.
Research in Progress
This weekly conference highlights the work of clinical and post-doctoral fellows, as well as junior faculty. This conference provides research fellows with valuable feedback on their work and serves as an introduction to the principles of cell and molecular biology, physiology, and clinical research.
Chest Radiology Conference
The consultation service meets weekly with colleagues from radiology to reviews interesting cases.
Multidisciplinary Lung Disease Conference
Monthly conference bringing together pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists built around interesting cases.
