The majority of General Internal Medicine faculty are clinician-educators who play significant teaching roles in the Department of Medicine and in the Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. James Woodruff and Dr. Julie Oyler serve as Associate Program Directors for our Internal Medicine Residency, and Drs. Wei Wei Lee, Amber Pincavage and Yasmin Sacro are Core Faculty for the residency program. Dr. Rita Rossi-Foulkes directs the combined Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program for sixteen residents, leading to dual certification in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Drs. Adam Cifu, Amber Pincavage and Diane Altkorn direct the highly rated Junior Clerkship in Medicine. Dr. Cifu has presented innovations from the Junior Clerkship at several National Clerkship Directors’ meetings.

Within the Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Halina Brukner serves as Associate Dean for Medical School Education and leads the Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators. Dr. Monica Vela serves as Associate Dean for Multi-Cultural Affairs. Dr. James Woodruff serves as Associate Dean of Students, working closely with Dr. Wei Wei Lee, Assistant Dean of Students.  Dr. Vineet Arora serves as Assistant Dean for Scholarship and Discovery and leads the MERITS fellowship in Medical Education.

Since 1981, the MacLean Center’s internationally renowned medical ethics fellowship program has graduated more than 375 fellows, many of whom hold endowed professorships and direct clinical ethics programs in the United States, Canada, Europe, and China. Current and former faculty and fellows have published more than 150 books in the field. Although 70% of fellows have been physicians, the Center’s fellowship program has also trained nurses, social workers, legal scholars, theologians, social scientists and philosophers.
