Marshall Chin, MD, MPH is the recipient of the 2024 Robert J. Glaser Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine. This award is the organization’s highest honor and recognizes outstanding contributions to research, education, leadership and mentorship in generalism in medicine. Dr. Chin is the Richard Parrillo Family Distinguished Service Professor of Medicine and serves as Associate Chief and Director of General Internal Medicine Research and Director of the Chicago Center for Diabetes Translation Research. Dr. Chin has extensive experience improving the care of vulnerable patients with chronic disease. He has worked to advance diabetes care and outcomes on the South Side through health care system community interventions. Dr. Chin has performed many of the key research studies informing how to improve diabetes care and outcomes in federally qualified health centers serving vulnerable populations with limited resources. Dr. Chin is a teacher and award-winning mentor who educates faculty, fellows and students about outcomes research methods to better understand and improve the quality of care.
