Jessica Robertson, Senior Clinical Research Coordinator in the Section of Hematology/Oncology has been named as the recipient of the 2020 BSD Rising Star in Leadership Staff Excellence Award. Jessica spearheaded and leads an anti-racism committee committed to facilitating ways to identify and eradicate racism, inequality, and its effects in the workplace. In a short period of time, she created and implemented a vision for the Committee on Anti-Racism (COAR), developed a mission statement, and organized subcommittees who will establish action plans that go beyond supportive words.
The BSD Excellence in Staff Awards were established to recognize staff whose talents and accomplishments contribute towards advancing the core missions of the BSD. At the same time, the awards showcase staff who contribute to a culture of teamwork and collaboration that enhances the enjoyment and excitement of working in the BSD.The BSD Excellence in Staff Awards program is comprised of five award categories designed to recognize the full range of staff contributions. The categories are: Leadership, Collaboration, Research, Community, and E3L Engagement.
The 2020 recipients were selected from amongst many by the BSD Nomination Committee which is comprised of staff from throughout the BSD. The committee carefully reviewed each of the nominations and selected the individuals to be honored for their accomplishments.
