Margo Emont, PhD, studies adipocyte development and function. She trained at the University of Michigan and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, working on projects characterizing both white and thermogenic adipocytes. Her lab now uses technologies such as single nuclear RNA sequencing to profile the cell types in adipose tissue and to understand how adipose tissue and adipocytes change under different physiological states. They are also focused on understanding how to drive adipocytes towards or away from certain states with a goal of improving metabolic health through modification of adipocyte function.
