Lucas M Kimmig

Dr. Lucas Kimmig specializes in pulmonology and critical care medicine. He completed medical school at the University of Freiburg, Germany, followed by internal medicine residency and chief residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Chicago. Following fellowship, Dr. Kimmig joined a physician-scientist training program at the University of Giessen in Germany, focusing on immunometabolism in lung disease, before returning to the University of Chicago. His academic interests include medical education, critical care ultrasonography, shock, and advanced lung diseases and respiratory failure with a focus on extracorporeal therapies. Dr. Kimmig holds certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine, the National Board of Echocardiography, and the European Respiratory Society. He is the Program Director for the pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship program at the University of Chicago.
