Dr. McConville serves as the Vice Chair for Education and the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. In this role, Dr. McConville oversees the largest residency program within the institution, providing strategic leadership and fostering a culture of academic excellence, clinical rigor, and compassionate patient care. Under his guidance, the program emphasizes not only the development of strong clinical acumen but also the professional and personal growth of residents as future leaders in medicine.
Dr. McConville's academic interests center on the integration of bedside ultrasound into routine clinical practice, particularly as a tool to augment and refine the traditional physical exam. He is a strong advocate for incorporating point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) into medical education and has developed innovative teaching strategies and curricula to train residents in its effective use. Through his educational leadership and commitment to advancing clinical skills, Dr. McConville continues to play a vital role in shaping the next generation of physicians.
