In Diabetes, Should We Treat Obesity First?”

Learning objectives: This session will discuss the benefit of weight loss in diabetes and diabetes associated comorbidities.  By the end of the session, participants will be familiar with the benefits of the currently approved anti-obesity medications and effective combinations in diabetes and associated comorbidities.

The session will discuss iatrogenic weight gain in diabetes.  By the end of the session, participants will learn how to recognize and address iatrogenic weight gain in diabetes.

Rethinking Tuberculosis: from infection to disease”

Learning objectives: The session will address an age old question – “what allows some individuals to effectively contain M. tuberculosis infection and live asymptomatically throughout life without ever progressing to active disease?” By the end of the session, participants will learn that specific immune cells play critical roles in determining M. tuberculosis infection outcomes.

The session will discuss if peripheral cellular biomarkers can predict tuberculosis disease burden at the site of infection (lungs). By the end of the session, participants will learn that specific immune markers
