Department of Medicine

The University of Chicago, Section of Nephrology has been awarded an NIH Institutional National Research Service Award that supports individual postdoctoral fellows. Funding of research training can be assured for qualified individuals for at least one year.

Some of our fellows have chosen to pursue dual training in Nephrology and Critical Care Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, Transplant Immunology, or Ethics. Such opportunities, often leading to dual ABIM eligibility, are best arranged by advance planning and concurrent application to both programs.

Fellows are encouraged to take formal coursework in the University relevant to their research interests. Courses in statistics, biochemistry, and immunology are available in other Departments at the University. Courses in the Clinical Research Training Program are available to all fellows. Participation in the Track I series of weekly lectures is encouraged for all fellows. More comprehensive clinical research training is available in Track II (year 2) or Track 3 (Master's Program) for selected candidates.
