The University of Chicago, Section of Nephrology has been awarded an
NIH Institutional National Research Service Award that supports individual
postdoctoral fellows. Funding of research training can be assured for
qualified individuals for at least one year.
Some of our fellows have chosen to pursue dual training in Nephrology
and Critical Care Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, Transplant Immunology,
or Ethics. Such opportunities, often leading to dual ABIM eligibility,
are best arranged by advance planning and concurrent application to
both programs.
Fellows are encouraged to take formal coursework in the University
relevant to their resea rch
interests. Courses in statistics, biochemistry, and immunology are
available in other Departments at the University. Courses in the Clinical
Research Training Program are available to all fellows. Participation
in the Track I series of weekly lectures is encouraged for all fellows.
More comprehensive clinical research training is available in Track
II (year 2) or Track 3 (Master's Program) for selected candidates.
