ACGME Fellowship Program - Overview
The Dermatopathology Fellowship Program at the University of Chicago, under the direction of Dr. Vesna Petronic-Rosic, Associate Professor and Program Director, is dedicated to training expert consultants in the microscopic diagnosis of diseases of the skin and mucosae. The Program strives to enhance the overall field of dermatopathology by encouraging graduates to devote a large part of their careers to dermatopathology, to apply their knowledge compassionately and ethically and to contribute their work to the field's scientific foundations.
The program provides a continuous base of active participatory study and experience in dermatopathology, supplemented by periods of intensive training in pertinent special areas on a rotation basis assigned according to individual need. The one-year program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and accepts one or two fellows each year.
Minimum requirements for admission to our fellowship program are:
- M.D. or equivalent degree.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-certified Dermatology or Pathology Residency Program.
- For graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada, appropriate certification by the USMLE/FLEX.
