Department of Medicine Ranks #15 in 2020 NIH Funding

The Department of Medicine was ranked #15 in 2020 NIH funding among departments of internal medicine in the latest data released by Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. This ranking represents $108.6 million in NIH awards and is up from #17 in 2019.  Within the Chicago area, Northwestern ranked #20, UIC #52 and Rush #59. In the Midwest, Washington University ranked #13, the University of Michigan #17, the University of Wisconsin #25, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis #29 and the University of Iowa as #41.  UCLA ranked #1 with over $337.4M followed by Vanderbilt with $224.6M in 2020 NIH funding for departments on internal medicine. UCSF which was ranked #1 in 2019 dropped to #3 in 2020.
